Ottawa, my sister’s newish home

In the fall I spent a long weekend in Ottawa visiting with Heather and John.  I’ve since had the opportunity to go up there in winter (VERY COLD), spring, and summer.  Both spring and summer were very pleasant.  Heather and spent a warm evening meandering around the ground near Parliament.  It’s a great place with restaurants in Byward Market District, the parks near the US Embassy, and then taking in the Sound and Light Show at Parliament itself.

We enjoyed that evening without a camera, but I did meander around Parliament Hill in April with one.  At the end I came across a cat sanctuary.  Reading a little more about it I learned that the cats have resided on the grounds since the seventies.  Initially they were cared for by Irène Desormeaux until she passed away and they are now cared for by René Chartrand.  Here are some photos and video of the cats (and my gallery from the spring trip)
