Moonrise at Pemaquid Point

Over Labor Day weekend we traveled north to visit Emily’s parents in Maine.  It is always relaxing at their place.  While driving to Pemaquid from the Portland Jetport we couldn’t help but notice the golden moon slowly rising above us.  With this image burned into our minds we decided to visit the Pemaquid Point lighthouse the following evening to watch the moon rise from the Atlantic Ocean.

The next day, the sky was mostly clear and temperature was comfortable.  Slowly, as the sun settled in the west and turned the sky pinks and purples, the moon drifted upwards from the ocean.  It seemed like we could walk out to it across its reflection on the sea. Enjoy the images here or head on over to Smugmug for our entire trip to Maine.

  1. Those images are outstanding. I love the way you played with the subject and how you aligned the moon in your photographs.
