California Vacation: 17 Mile Drive and Point Lobos

After spending the morning and early afternoon in the aquarium it was time to take in the sea air along 17 Mile Drive. It can best be described as one of the most beautiful drives we’ve ever driven. Every couple of minutes, we stopped to play on the beach, watch the seals, look at the waves crashing, or check out the famous Lone Cyprus tree.  It was here that we were asked if we were on our honeymoon – we should have said yes.

Instead of staying on the drive for sunset we headed south of the Peninsula to Point Lobos.  Here we hiked out onto the weather beaten rocks to watch the sunset.  Our only company was a lone harbor seal sleeping on a rock and a sea-gull who joined us to watch the sun drift down to the water.  It was just us and nature, but here is a glimpse of what we saw on the drive and in the park.
