California Vacation: Malibu, Pismo Beach, and Cambria

There are so many famous, and not so famous, places along the California coast to explore.  Upon leaving Southern California early on a Monday morning we happened upon the Malibu Pier where Rob attempted to befriend a pelican.  The pelican was not too amused and continued to clean itself.  We then spent the bulk of the day in Santa Barbara (separate post) before playing on the beach in Pismo Beach.  It was so liberating to just run around in the sand and dip our toes in the water while watching the sky burn orange and red.  Looking back towards land we couldn’t help but notice the full moon sitting among the palm trees – what a California sight.

Not to disrespect sunrise while watching all these wonderful sunsets in Hermosa Beach, Pismo Beach, and Carmel-by-the-Sea, we got up early and walked along the coast in Cambria hoping to catch a glimpse of a sea otter.  This would come later in the trip at the Elkhorn Slough, but the waves crashing on the shore was a great way to start the day.

Morning photos are here while sunset photos are here, but as always here are some of our favorites:
